Peto PILATES CLASSES IN BARNET

About

The Peto Pilates Method is a carefully designed programme for individuals with movement difficulties and neurological conditions. We proudly offer sessions for those with disabilities, adapting Pilates exercises for conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Ataxia, Stroke, and Cerebral Palsy.

Beyond Move's founder, Noemi, trained at the International Peto Institute in Budapest and has dedicated her work to individuals affected by these conditions since 2006. Combining traditional Pilates techniques with specialised rehabilitation methods, Noemi aims to enhance mobility and improve the quality of life for her clients, fostering an inclusive community for those needing movement support.

  • “You are waking up things in my body! My spatial awareness was affected by my Ataxia – your class really helps me to align, and the exercises/stretches helped immensely with my back. I could walk again!”

  • “I hadn’t exercised for a long time but found the Peto class fascinating. I think my mum would benefit – she is big like me and has Parkinson’s, but she is quite shy. I loved the style of Peto – I really understood the concept of the movements.”

Ensures we can offer individual attention, so you’ll gain the most out of the sessions. Our class sizes are capped at 8 participants, with Barre classes limited to 7 and Rehab classes to a maximum of 6. Workshop and event sizes may vary.

DISABILITY FRIENDLY

We are strong on inclusion, and whenever it’s possible we modify exercises and ensuring comfort and safety. Everyone benefits from Pilates as movement is medicine and we understand discomfort/pain can be isolating. Exercising in small groups is a great antidote to help you move as you’d like to.

  • Yes, Peto Pilates is specifically designed to be a safe and beneficial exercise for individuals with long-term conditions, chronic pain, or those who struggle with daily tasks. Even if movement feels challenging, everyone can benefit from tailored exercises. In fact, people experiencing pain or living with conditions often need this type of movement the most.

As one client with Ataxia shared, "You are waking up things in my body! My spatial awareness was affected by my Ataxia – your class really helps me to align, and the exercises/stretches helped immensely with my back. I could walk again!"

  • Physical and neurological pain, discomfort, or existing conditions can significantly impact your ability to exercise. Traditional exercise classes often can't provide the necessary modifications, leading people to either overdo it or avoid exercise altogether. Here, we tailor the exercises to your needs and teach you how to do them safely. You may need to start with 1:1 sessions or even home visits.

  • Receiving a diagnosis or experiencing chronic discomfort can often lead to feelings of isolation. Exercising in our small group setting provides a wonderful antidote to this isolation. You'll join a supportive community that helps you move and feel better in a shared space. Depending on your mobility and goals, we want you to enjoy the classes and feel happy and confident in the group as you join, whether it is a general class or a specific class offered by us.

  • Absolutely. We prioritise close support in our classes. Because of our small group setting, our teachers have ample time to provide individual assistance. This means you'll receive personalised guidance and make gentle adjustments based on your specific needs, ensuring you get the most out of every session.

FOUNDER

I started the studio because I strongly believe movement and improved posture add to our sense of wellbeing. I’m on a mission to help everyone feel more confident about their movement.

I named the studio Beyond Move because we include everyone regardless of size, age, identity or ability – including people with congenital and acquired injuries.
I personally strive to enable and nurture a strong community. One less interested in how we look in the studio and more in how we can empower ourselves and others.
