New to Beyond Move

Postnatal classes/courses

  • We recommend you wait until you have had your GP/Consultant check-up which is around 8 weeks. Once you get an okay from them and you feel ready, you may like to book your class/course.

  • If you have had a cesarean section, then it is highly recommended that you wait 8-12 weeks before starting postnatal Pilates. If you have any additional physical conditions or discomfort in your pelvic or spine area, please consult with your physician before you start any exercise.

  • It happens because your growing womb (uterus) pushes the muscles apart, making them longer and weaker. The separation between your stomach muscles will usually go back to normal by the time your baby is 8 weeks old. The amount of separation can vary.

    The key to healing diastasis recti is rebuilding your core from the inside out. You need to strengthen the transverse abdominis (TRA) muscle, which is the deepest abdominal muscle and can provide support for those muscles that have been stretched.

  • You receive special 1:1 attention, as well as the opportunity to join classes. Movements have a positive effect on mental health.

About Pilates

  • Pilates is a system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates that emphasises strengthening the core, improving flexibility and posture, and enhancing mind-body connection through controlled movements and specific breathing techniques.

  • Pilates can increase core strength, improve flexibility, improve posture, enhance balance and coordination, prevent injury, and increase body awareness. It can also have a positive impact on mental well-being.

  • No, Pilates is for everyone! It can be adapted to suit various fitness levels, ages, and physical conditions. We support and specialise in recovery from injuries, with some medical conditions, prenatal.

  • In Pilates, the "core" refers to the deep muscles of the abdomen, back, and pelvis that stabilise and support the spine. Engaging these muscles is fundamental to all Pilates exercises.

  • Mat Pilates is performed on a floor mat using your own body weight for resistance. Reformer Pilates uses a specialised machine with springs that provide resistance and assistance. 

    Both are amazing and offer a wider range of exercises and intensity levels. It is easier to move around in Mat class, and we recommend to learn the principles on the mat before you move to the reformer.

  • You can book classes online through our website. Visit our booking page, select the class you'd like to attend, and follow the instructions to book your spot.

  • Yes, drop-in availability depends on class capacity. Please note that we require payment before the class. We highly recommend booking in advance to guarantee your spot, especially for popular classes.

  • Our booking window is open up to 4 weeks in advance on our online booking system.

  • Our general Pilates class accommodates 8 participants, barre allows for 7, and rehab/Peto Pilates is limited to a maximum of 6 individuals.
